I laid out a dark rainbow hued palette of wool, crocheted the hat band in granny squares and then knitted the body of the hat for a nice drape. Wear the hat band with your favorite granny square colors in front. Wool is very thermal, can be worn in fog, mist or light rain, absorbing 40% of its weight in humidity without the wearer feeling cold. That is why fishermen have worn wool for centuries.
Wool can be easily cared for giving years of wear. At the end of the cold season hand wash with shampoo in cold water and rinse with a conditioner. Roll in a towel and press the water out, dry flat. Store in a cedar chest or in a plastic bag.
